The next 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is due to start on Tuesday 25 January 2022 at 7pm in the Ennismore Retreat Centre, Cork City. Over the 8 weeks, participants will learn how to develop and maintain a mindfulness practice and how to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives. The course is suitable for beginners and for those with experience who wish to deepen or renew their mindfulness practice. The course will follow the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum created by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society, UMASS University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA. This course will be taught by Seamus McMahon who is based in Crosshaven, Co. Cork. Seamus holds an MSc with distinction from the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, School of Psychology, Bangor University, Wales. He is an experienced teacher of Mindfulness and MBSR. In order to safeguard participants, and in compliance with the requirements of the Ennismore Retreat Centre, all participants must hold a Covid-19 vaccination certificate. In the event of disruption to the course arising from Covid-19, classes may move online, depending on circumstances at the time.
The regular practice of Mindfulness has been shown through research to lessen anxiety and stress and to improve wellbeing. This course is suitable for people of all ages. It is helpful in many contexts, including workplace stress, parenting, relationship and communication issues, or just the challenges of day-to-day living. Many people experience real benefits.

The full course fee is €295 which includes eight weekly 2 1/2 hour sessions, a detailed course booklet, links to audio-recordings of meditations, and a day retreat (10am to 4pm). The course will start at 7pm on Tuesday 25 January 2022 and end on Tuesday 15 March 2022. The day retreat will take place on a Saturday or Sunday after the 5th or 6th week of the course. Fee concessions are available on request.
